08/Jun Darya Dadvar Concert in london
Originally an opera singer, Darya grew up in an artistic environment in Iran. Her mother is a singer and director of Marionette theatre.

In 1999, Darya obtained her "Diplome d'Etude Musicale" (Gold Medal) in voice. She finished her musical education in National Conservatory of Toulouse/France in the year 2000 and obtained a first class as well as a Diploma of professional cycle in Baroque Style. Darya has also a Master Degree in Art at “Ecole des Beaux-Arts” of Toulouse/France.

Since 2001 she has resided in Paris, engaged in a successful career as a soprano, attracting listeners from around the world. Her concerts are heavily attended. One of her unforgettable performances was in Iran, when she appeared in the role of Tahmineh, from the tragedy of “Rostam & Sohrab - Shahnameh Ferdowsi”, with the Armenian Symphony Orchestra, composed and directed by Loris Tjeknavorian.

Darya creates her own music by combining traditional music of Iran and European classical singing. Her unique talent in arranging Iranian music with some Jazz and Blues elements, places her among top "World Music" Artists.

She sometimes combines different musical styles within one song, brings historical periods together and crosses languages and dialects. She follows her own instincts above all. In short, she has dared to create a new style of singing.

The Venue

bush hall

In 2001 Charlie Raworth and Emma Hutchinson, the present owners and directors of the company, reclaimed Bush Hall as a music and entertainment venue.

Extensive renovation work was carried out in order to restore Bush Hall to its former glory as the Carlton Dance Hall, with the ornate Edwardian plasterwork and dcor. An added masterstroke came with the installation of six two-tier Austrian lead crystal chandeliers. These have become the most discernible of features within what is a truly elegant space.

In its formative years Bush Hall was filled with music and dance of all kinds, especially during the roaring twenties and into the 1930's. Bush Hall was built between 1904/5 by a rogue publisher called W.C. Hurndall, one of three venues built in London, each as a gift to his 3 daughters. Bush Hall was undoubtedly his favourite as he retained a flat at the top, mainly occupied by his mistress.

The early structural use of steel girders helped the building survive the Blitz and it became a British Restaurant (grand soup kitchen), during World War II and subsequent rationing. Thereafter in the late fifties and sixties it was a bingo hall, with a musical edge as it was used as rehearsal space by local west London talent, Adam Faith, Cliff Richard and The Who.

It almost went to ruin in the seventies, before it was racked up to be a snooker and social club for 20 years in the 80's and 90's. The emphasis being on late night social with the demise in the popularity of snooker in the latter years. And then it turned full circle to the music and entertainment venue that is Bush Hall.

The programme at Bush Hall since 2001 has featured the following artists:

Amy Winehouse / Bat for Lashes / Boy George / Chris Rea / Corinne Bailey Rae / Damien Rice / James Morrison / Jamie T / Jos Gonzlez / Kings Of Leon / Lily Allen / Madeleine Peyroux / The Mystery Jets / Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds / Nitin Sawhney / R.E.M / Ryan Adams / Scissor Sisters / Sufjan Stevens / The Sugababes / The Corrs / The Magic Numbers / Yann Tiersen

Classical recitals have included performances by Maggie Cole, Colin Curry, Matthew Barley and Darragh Morgan.
